Take Off, Fly Away, Cast Off – live at Faszination Modellbau in Friedrichshafen from 5 to 7 November 2021

Model building, flying, running at full steam, talking shop and sharing experiences are on the agenda again. The model community’s favourite leading trade fair will be joined this year by the “Echtdampf-Hallentreffen” cult event and the “LEGO Fan Exhibition” event highlight, thus providing the entire family with sheer enjoyment. World-class air shows, action-packed demonstrations, a colourful hands-on program and leading brand-name exhibitors will be on hand ... live. All three events can be attended with just one ticket which means lots of indoor and outdoor action on land, on water and in the air with tremendous fun factor for all of the visitors!

Drifting RC cars slide and jump around the race track at the German Open RC Car Masters. Buzzing drones engage in a relentless battle for the championship title. Splendid ocean steamers glide gracefully over the expansive water basin. Small rockets soar to ceiling of the exhibition hall and hissing steam-powered machines flaunt their nostalgic functions. Faithful railroad replicas chug through the wonderful model railroad layouts. The spectators on the airfield are excited as the pilots demonstrate their unique performance skills. As a world-class event, Faszination Modellbau 2021 will finally take place again at its predestined location in Friedrichshafen on Lake Constance where Germany, Austria and Switzerland meet, in ten spacious exhibition halls with two large foyers, on the extensive outdoor grounds, the exhibition lake and, above all, at the unique free-flight area. For enthusiasts of all model building disciplines, this is the opportunity to get out of the daily grind and into a fascinating world which shows that right now, model building is more in vogue than ever!

Model Making is a Modern Classic

This is also confirmed by a survey conducted by the ZDF (a German television broadcasting company): corona time has been used to revive hobbies or to learn something new. There are newcomers, returning enthusiasts and dedicated professionals who always pursue their hobbies actively. Everyone is looking forward to the restart, and to discovering the industry’s highly fascinating model-building creations live in action – on land, on sea and in the air. And everyone is eager to finally enjoy an intensive model-building weekend once again at Faszination Modellbau 2021, where all model building sectors are united. Model building enthusiasts are brought together at the event and a sense of community is cultivated. Enjoy everyday life together again at last. The exhibitors and the exhibition team are already looking forward to the model building fans with great anticipation. The public exhibition will of course provide the right setting for safe staging of the event. Only visitors and exhibitors who have been vaccinated, have recovered from COVID or can present negative test results will be admitted to the trade fair. Checking will take place before entering the trade fair facilities. Masks are also currently still compulsory in the exhibition halls and in the outdoor areas, but only if physical distancing of at least 1.5 metres cannot be maintained. Tickets can be purchased easily, and only in advance, online via the event website at www.faszination-modellbau.de. This ensures a relaxed start for model building fans when they visit the exhibition. Admission tickets are also a great gift for your loved ones.

Diversity and Originality: Model Railroading “All United” at Faszination Modellbau

Whether large or small, delicate or expansive, loud or quiet, action-packed or detail-oriented, fully grounded or entirely under steam. Railroad miniatures are just as diverse and unique as human beings. This is also the message with which the Deutsche Bahn (German railway company) generated a huge response when it rolled a rainbow-coloured ICE 3 down the tracks known as the “Railbow ICE” – a sign of tolerance, of respectful and trusting coexistence, and of an appreciative approach to the diversity of all people. Märklin is setting an example by offering this special ICE with highlights such as interior LED lighting installed as a standard feature and extensive sound functions for H0 model railroad enthusiasts. And it will be on display – live and in full colour – at Faszination Modellbau at the industry leader’s booth along with other innovations for the fall of 2021 from Märklin, Trix, and LGB. BEMO will also present its top-quality portfolio with model railroads based on Swiss meter-gauge railways, as well as narrow gauge railways from Saxony and Württemberg.

Dedicated clubs and associations will present their rolling stock from different eras in a colourful and diverse fashion in two exhibition halls – on Europe’s most magnificent railway stretches and in fantasy landscapes of their own conception. These beautiful layouts have been faithfully reproduced down to the smallest detail and created with great loving care, so that they can finally be operated live for an audience once again. Premium equipment will be offered to this end by brand-name and small-series manufacturers at their booths. Everything required for the construction of a perfect layout is available to railroad fans, for example from tradition-rich Gebr. FALLER GmbH: a comprehensive range of buildings, landscape and nature components, as well as urban embellishments, bridges, and everyday objects. Anyone looking for especially realistic and elaborate models of cars, trucks and airplanes in precise miniature scales will find what they’re looking for at the booth operated by Herpa Miniaturmodelle GmbH. Technology updates, as well as information on new products and model railroad trends, will be available at the popular Model Railway Forum which will round out the miniature railroading programme.

Major Construction Site Comes to Life!

The backhoe excavates and moves tons of soil and sand with its front loader and excavator unit. Dump trucks and bucket excavators are ready and waiting to haul off the excavated material. Nearby on the miniature road construction site, the scraper is busy with grading and hauling work for the new freeway. Heavy concrete sections hover high above the dusty scenery as the giant tower crane lifts them into place for bridge construction. A fleet of heavy haulers weaves its way through the congested construction site roadway, hoping for on-time delivery. Pure adventure awaits truckers young and old on the true-to-scale truck course at the high-horsepower Model Truck Festival. Imposing proof is offered here for the fact that state-of-the-art technology is built into the XXL vehicles in miniature format, and thanks to utmost attention to detail and perfect craftsmanship on the part of model manufacturers such as functional model exhibitor ScaleART, they’re in no way less impressive than the full-scale originals. The military and tractor courses are also extremely busy, as are the snow-covered tracks for the ski slope vehicles. Pure adrenaline is assured by the Roadworkers’ Arena, where small power machines impressively demonstrate their technical capabilities in a precisely coordinated show.

Outdoor, Indoor – Flytime Everywhere

Aviation action under open skies with the hottest pilots of the model building scene can only be found at Faszination Modellbau 2021 at the “Stars of the Year” mega air show. On all three exhibition days (Friday through Sunday), world-class flight demonstrations will be offered to aviation enthusiasts in a relaxed atmosphere at the popular flight area in Friedrichshafen by master pilots, which are great fun to watch! And there won’t be any shortage of indoor action either when the west foyer opens up for Funfly Time! Quirky and amusing RC electric model aircraft will glide through the air to matching sound and light effects, presenting a technically impeccable flight show. Those looking for something even more extreme will find what they’re looking for at the FPV Drone Championship Finals! Small racing drones zip through the twisting course with their powerful electric drives – crashes included. Action? Of course!

To the Bricks, Get Set, Go!

Rummaging, rustling, snapping – the most wonderful thing in the world for LEGO fans! Visitors to Faszination Modellbau will be able to delve into the world of LEGO bricks for three days at the LEGO exhibition and fan event being held at the same time. An entire exhibition hall will be filled with the cult bricks in keeping with the slogan “Bricking Bavaria 2021”. There’ll be building, exchanging, marvelling and mutual celebration of the cult of bricks! Building events for children will be organised by LEGO, where they can have a good romp and let their imaginations run wild. Perhaps the cornerstone for a future builder will be laid here. All you can say is: To the Bricks, Get Set, Go!

Good to know! Faszination Modellbau is accompanied and embraced by an agile and enthusiastic social community with over 10,000 fans. Network with us and stay up-to-date at all times with regard to our trade fair highlights:
