Gauge TT in Mannheim: Hoppenstedt

Construction of the "Hoppenstedt" layout began in 2008. It features a model nuclear power station, as seen in a TV sketch of the Hoppenstedt family created by German comedian Loriot. The double-track main line takes us through the Elbe Sandstone Highlands, based on the stretch between Dresden and Prague. Intercity express trains can show off their speed along a 12 metre straight track. In the centre of the layout is a large main station with 8 tracks for passenger and goods traffic. A 1.4 metre bridge is remarkable evidence of how model scale TT (1:120) can be used to portray true-to-original impressions.
